After the departure from Ford Motor Company and under the new Tata Industries management, Jaguar launched a new top-model for the XF range in 2009: the 510 hp XFR.
In 2009, the world was into a big financial crisis and still struggled to recover. But Jaguar didn’t want to wait and launched its performance model, the XFR. It was the answer for the 507 hp of the BMW M5 and the 525 hp of the E63 AMG.

There were some subtle differences between the XFR and the regular XF, but not that obvious. On the front bumper there were two, big, air-intakes with chromed rims around them. A dark mesh aluminum grille with a subtle “R” badge completed the front immage. On the hood, two air-vents showed the signs of a performance car and the quad exhaust in the rear were there to confirm that there was a different cat. It had just a little bit bolder look than the regular XF, even with the 20” light-alloy-wheels fitted as standard.

Inside, the premium look with its hide-away air-vents and silver accents, gave a sportier look, but without compromising the elegance. On the center console, there were the buttons for driving modes and for the adaptive dampers.

From the technical point of view, the new, in-house developed, engine was a masterpiece of its times. It was lighter and shorter than the older 4.2-liter V8. It was fitted with variable valve openings and a supercharger. The standard transmission was a 6-speed automatic.
