Mercedes started with a whole new platform and design for the third generation of its front-wheel drive A-Class.
The new A-Class is now longer, wider and lower than the previous generations. It now features a highly-sculpted five-door two-box model, based on a monocoque construction rather than the sandwich floor assembly of the previous models. The “in-house” tuned version of the A-Class, the A45 AMG is powered by the most powerful 2.0-liter engine, that is also very efficient and clean, meeting EU6 standards. The interior of the hot-hatch represents a dramatic step forward in the quality of materials used and design. The cabin has an aviation-inspired theme, with the dashboard shaped like a wing and round air vents reminding of jet engines. Although it has racing-style front seats, the hot-hatch still provides generous room for the rear passenger and practicality is further enhanced by it’s 341-liter luggage capacity that can be expanded to 1,157 by folding the rear seats. In 2015, the A45 AMG got revised receiving more power, enhanced aerodynamics, updated interior and the Dynamic Select function borrowed from the GT and the C63.
