Generation Information

Segment: None

The 2011 Audi R8 GT was the top performer for the Audi R8 model range.
And for those who loved the top-less vehicles, there was the R8 GT Spyder.

The 333 limited editions of the Audi R8 GT Spyder was shown in 2011 and it was a true high-seed roadster that could handle well despite its open top.

There were some modifications that accentuated the styling of the R8 GT Spyder. On the front, there was a splitter wit a dual lip. On the sides, behind the doors, there were add-on parts in contrast titanium gray. In the rear, there was an enlarged diffuser and dark LED taillights. For the front, Audi offered an optional windshield frame in matt CFRP. In order to reduce weight, the engine frame was made of ultra-light magnesium alloys. The long cover over the soft-top compartment and the large side panels of the rear were made of carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP)

Under the rear hood, the 5.2-liter engine was naturally aspirated. It featured a dry-sump lubrication system that oil even under hard cornering or when it was under heavy acceleration. It was available only with a 6-speed manual. It was mated to a standard 6-speed automated R-Tronic transmission. It was all-wheel-drive with a quattro system tuned for more rear-bias torque distribution.
