BENTLEY Mk VI Saloon
1946
1953
Bentley released company’s first ‘owner-driver’ car in 1946, the Mk VI Saloon.
Produced in about 5200 units between 1946 and 1953, this new compact model from Bentley featured a steel-configured frame and equipped with a Rolls Royce-based 4257cc twin SU carburetor engine. It also introduced a new factory-built-bodywork concept for both Bentley and Rolls Royce, as it was company’s first car with a standard body. Of course, if some customers only wanted to purchase the chassis from Bentley and fit it with another bodywork, such an option was also available. This model was assembled at Crewe (Cheshire) and was discontinued in 1953.
