The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic was presented to the world during the 2011 North American International Auto Show, at Detroit.
The Sonic is the first car from Chevrolet to use GM’s new worldwide small car platform and represents the new nameplate used by the North American carmaker for its Aveo model in the US, Mexican and Canadian markets. It comes in either sedan or hatchback form. Along with the 2012 Buick Verano, the Sonic is assembled at GM’s Orion Assembly Center in Michigan. As far as the sedan version goes, it’s much more aggressive than it’s Aveo successor. The 2012 Sonic borrows the same powerplants used by the Cruze.
