Chrysler introduced the 300 series when in the mid 50’s all the car manufacturers started going in different directions.
The name was inspired from the Hemi engine producing 300 horsepower. The 300 was nothing like the Detroit engineers never built before, it was a luxurious equipped high performance sedan. The massive V8 engine gave the sport sedan a high speed of 150 mph. Some consider the Chrysler 300 sports coupe the original American Muscle Cars, Chrysler dominated stock car racing, putting 300 series in the hands of performance race car drivers. With this model Chrysler had the most powerful production car in the world.
