DR Motor was part of an Italian group and was linked with China, as most of the models were supplied from there.
The company was founded in 2006 by Massimo Di Risio.

Di Risio was a car racing passionate and won over 200 trophies.

In 2003, the company became one of the largest car dealers in Italy. In 2006, Di Risio created a brand a used Chinese components to build the vehicles.

While at the time he decided to sell his car through supermarkets, later on, in 2009 he had over 90 dealers in Italy.

The DR1 launched in 2009 was part of the mini segment and was available with a choice of an 1.1-liter 4-cylinder that developed 68 hp and 90 Nm. The engine was mated with a 5-speed manual transmission and could accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in around 12 seconds, reaching a top speed of 156 km/h.

The design of the DR1 was similar to the one of the Chevrolet Spark, however, it was based on the CHinese Cherry QQ car.

Introduced for the first time at the Bologna Motor Show, the DR1 was available only with a 5-door configuration.

The estimated fuel economy was at 5.8-liters per 100 km, thus the small car was a great fit for people looking for an economy car.
