The mid-size Lincoln Aviator SUV, in production between 2003 and 2005 and based on the Ford U platform, is powered by a 4.6L DOHC Modular V8 electronic injection petrol engine rated at 302 HP and 300.2 pound-feet of torque. Transmission consisted of a 5-speed, automatic gearbox, while rear wheel drive was standard. Optionally, customers could opt for an all-wheel drive system for a better performance on rough terrains. Being a rebadged Mercury Mountaineer and Ford Explorer, and selling in low volumes, the Aviator exited production when the other two models got redesigned for 2006.
