With a design that is somewhat of a throwback to the angular GLK, which was replaced by the much more rounded GLC, the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLB is a spacious compact SUV that in some configurations is the smallest Mercedes-Benz that can carry up to seven passengers.
The model was developed on the MFA2 (Modular Front-wheel-drive Architecture) platform, meaning that it shares most of its parts with cars like the A-Class, B-Class, GLA, CLA and all of their different iterations.

Despite its compact platform, the GLB is almost as large as the GLC, while offering a lot more interior space. The car’s wheelbase is 10 centimeters longer than the latest B-Class, for example, which enables the crossover to offer a luggage capacity of 560 to 1755 liters in the five-seat configuration, making it the most spacious vehicle in the Mercedes-Benz compact car lineup. In the optional seven-seat configuration, the GLB can comfortably carry two passengers up to a height of 1.68 m on the two additional seats in the trunk, which come with their own retractable head restraints, seat belts with belt tensioners, a side window airbag and ISOFIX and TOP-Tether anchorage points for suitable child seat. Most of the engine lineup is carried over from the car cars in the Mercedes-Benz compact lineup.
