The Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe was a great looking car and the way the AMG transformed it was just a great deal.
It almost turned it from an elegant coupe into a respectable GT.

After Mercedes-Benz decided to transform the AMG into a separate brand to compete against Porsche, some models were exclusively AMG, while some vehicles from Mercedes-Benz were transformed. The latter situation was with the E-Class Coupe, which was offered with some good engine versions.

The transformed E-Class coupe had a special twin-blade radiator grille, a front bumper, and apron into an A-design, specific side-sills a rear diffuser and round exhaust tailpipe with trim elements in high-gloss chrome. On the trunk, there was a lip-spoiler painted in the same color as the car, but it was offered in carbon-fiber as an option.

Inside the E53 there is a blend of luxury and sportiness. Bolstered seats covered in leather, two 12” displays on the dashboard and a lot of features for comfort. But the real difference between the E 53 AMG and an E-Class Coupe lies underneath the bodywork.

The engine was a twin-turbo, inline-six engine. To help reduce the turbo-lag, there was an air-compressor that helped the turbochargers to get to their boost level faster. Also, there was additional help from the EQ Boost starter-generator. Thanks to the 48v electric system, the car had enough juice in the batteries to give the car an extra 16kW (21 hp) and 250 Nm (184.3 lb-ft) of torque when needed. And at any kick down, thanks to the Speedshift TCT 9G transmission, the engine revs up fast.
