First unveiled as a car concept in 1986 and receiving mostly positive feedback, the Pontiac Trans Sport arrived in production in 1990 in order to compete with Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager.
The first generation Pontiac Trans Sport was also launched in Europe with minor modifications in order to comply with the local regulations. There were three engine configurations available, a 2.3i 16V, a 3.1i V6 and a 3.8i V6, which produced 137, 120 and 175 horsepower respectively. The Trans Sport series was discontinued in 1998 when Pontiac replaced it with the Montana model.
