Introduced in 2010 for the Malaysian market, the Proton Inspira is actually a rebadged ninth-generation Mitsubishi Lancer, which makes it related to the Chrysler Sebring and the Dodge Avenger.
The Inspira was created following a technological transfer with Mitsubishi Motors, but the vehicle is cheaper that its Japanese twin, mainly because it’s being built locally. The 4.5-meter long sedan was launched with a 1.8-liter engine rated at 140 HP - connected to either a five-speed manual or a CVT - and a 2.0-liter unit with 150 HP and available with the six-speed CVT only.
