The new Opel Meriva is a consistent continuation of the previous concept enhanced with finer ingredients.
It receives a new face that has the characteristics of the new Opel Insignia revealed at the 2013 IAA, with an elegant, generously chromed front grille and sparkling design for the lights. LED technology is now available for the daytime running lights and rear lamps resulting in a crisp, high tech look. A fine chrome trim highlights the typical window wave-shaped beltline, raising the Meriva’s appeal and placing it neatly alongside the ADAM, the Cascada and the Insignia. It also receives a new generation, state-of-the-art IntelliLink infotainment system enabling seamless smartphone integration into the vehicle. The large, high-definition, seven-inch color monitor offers a new interface with IntelliLink graphics that enhance readability and make operation easy. The system features Bluetooth hand-free phone connectivity and audio streaming, and additional connectivity via USB. The new Meriva benefits from a re-designed multifunctional FlexRail central console with improved functionality and increased rear passenger legroom in the central seat, thanks to shorter rails. FlexRail offers the fitting storage space necessary for travel utensils with flexible features such as armrests, drink-holders and storage compartments. Another important component is the revolutionary patented FlexDoors system with rear-hinged doors, opening at an 84 degree angle to offer an extraordinary comfortable access.

The second generation of this model was officially introduced at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show.
As compared to its predecessor version, the Meriva B featured rear-hinged rear doors, called ‘FlexDoors’. This was actually the first and foremost change that happened at the exterior. Technologically speaking, the novelty of Meriva B was that this represented the first Opel/Vauxhall model fitted with a stop-start system, for improved fuel economy and a lower level of CO2 emissions. Production for this model started in June 2010, while in the UK it was marketed as Vauxhall Meriva and was available since April 2010.

The OPC Meriva is yet another prime example of engineering excellence.
Powered by a 4-cylinder 1.6 liter ECOTEC turbocharged petrol engine, the OPC Meriva can reach a top speed of 138 mph and 230 NM of torque that can be further boosted to 266 Nm thanks to the vehicle’s overboost function. The system activates automatically depending on the speed at which the gas pedal is pressed and delivers an extra 36 Nm for around 5 seconds. Ground clearance has also been lowered by 0.4 inch at the front and 0.6 inch at the back and suspension was overall improved to enhance handling.

The small MPV based on the Opel Corsa was launched in 2003 and just two years later it received an update to keep its high-sell values up and running.
While the market started to shift away from the MPV segment, Opel dared to launch a minivan based on the same platform with their small-segment car. It was a huge success. The German car-maker succeeded to reach 500.000 units sold in their first three years of production. To keep the momentum, the car-maker introduced new engines and new aesthetic changes to the car.

The front fascia remained almost the same, but a chromed bar was installed on the upper side of the grille. The bumper received a wide air-intake and fog-lights integrated into the side air-intake. In the rear, the taillights were smoked, following the market trend for that detail.

Inside, there was a new design for the door panels, instrument cluster, and new upholstery materials. It featured a redesigned instrument graphics. The audio system received Bluetooth connectivity with mobile phones. To increase the thermal comfort, the Meriva featured a warm-air blower, that could heat the cabin right after starting the engine. It was very useful for the diesel engine versions.

The biggest changes were made for the engine compartment, where there were three new engines available: a 1.3-liter diesel, a 1.6-liter gasoline unit, and a 180 hp turbocharged 1.6-liter for the OPC version.

Based on the third Corsa generation platform, the small MPV can be described by using roughly one word: utility.
Thanks to its flexible interior, labeled as FlexSpace and generous trunk volume, the Meriva can accommodate up to 5 passengers or can be converted to hold as much luggage as possible. Cargo room can be easily extended by pushing the second row of seats into the floor. Due to the flexibility of the seats, back-row occupants are assured a comfortable ride regardless of the front seats position. Reliable and fuel efficient, the Meriva comes with a choice of engines ranging in capacity from 1.3 to 1.8L and maximum power output of 125 Hp.
