Part of Polestar’s expansion from Volvo’s in-house tuner to a standalone electric performance brand, the Polestar 2 is the second model from the company’s three-car lineup, and it is manufactured in a new purpose-built facility in China.
The model is Volvo’s first battery electric vehicle (BEV) and is a mid-sized sedan that goes straight against the Tesla Model 3. In essence, the car is a five-door fastback, but styled more like a sleek sedan. The two electric motors, one for each axle, provide a total of 408 horsepower and 660 Nm of torque, enough to propel the Polestar 2 from 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) in just 4.7 seconds.
