Brabus took a standard SMART FourFour and tweaked its engine and drivetrain to convert it into a small-segment, four-door, pocket rocket.
When Mercedes-Benz and Mitsubishi worked together to develop the SMART FourFour and the Colt, respectively, Brabus thought that it wouldn’t be involved. But soon, its engineers understood that the 1.5-liter engine installed by Mitsubishi under Colt’s hood deserves more attention. The same powerplant was available, turbocharged on the Colt CZT and, without a turbocharger, on the SMART FourFour.

But Brabus couldn’t help it not to improve the car’s look. It installed wider flares over the wheel arches and an upgraded front bumper with a dynamic look. The lower grille from the apron flanked by two side-scoops for the fog lights helped cool the intercooler behind it. The unique light-alloy wheels with six double-spokes improved the car’s look, while in the back, a new bumper with a diffuser and a dual exhaust confirmed the Brabus involvement.

Inside, Brabus installed aluminum trims on the dashboard and the center console, around the gear stick. There were new shining metallic pedals that resembled other sports cars created by the German tuning carmaker. A new set of dials adorned the top of the dashboard, indicating the boost pressure and a clock.

Under the hood, Brabus installed the 4G15 turbocharged Mitsubishi engine. It was the same powerplant from the Colt CZT but upgraded with 27 ponies. As a result, the Brabus FourFour could keep pace with the Mini Cooper S on a track but offered four seats inside.
