The driving fun sewn into the fabric of every MINI never failed to bring a smile on the face.
And in 2001 the joy increased – with the roof up or down – in the first model from the brand designed strictly for two people.

The British roadster tradition was followed for the MINI Roadster in 2011 as well, the car having had a black roof and sport stripes available in different colors. Owners could add their personal touch combining different colors for the hood and the trunk lid.
The soft top was manually operated and was made of an outstanding material quality which ensured soundproofing and heat insulation.
The first MINI’s Roadster was equipped with a 1.6-liter engine, which had a fully variable valve control system borrowed from BMW, thus MINI promised a reduced fuel consumption and low emissions, altogether with a quick response to the accelerator.

The engine had an output of 122 hp (90 kW) and could reach 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds.
For the more restless buyers, the more powerful brother was launched as well: MINI Cooper S Roadster. What was extra for this model was a twin-scroll turbocharger and petrol direct injection, which ensured a more efficient engine that produced 184 hp and reached 100 km/h in 7 seconds.
