The first generation of the Taurus SHO was introduced in 1989 and featured a Yamaha engine under the hood.
The 2009 model SHO was presented with a new 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine made by Ford.

The first generation of the Taurus was well received by the market and saved the company from an imminent crash. Over the years, the glorious name started to fade away. The company tried to rebuild that glory period and revived the SHO badge in 2009 for the new, 2010, model.

The three-box sedan look with a lower greenhouse made the car look like a sports sedan. The big air-intake in the lower part of the front bumper and the side scoops were no joke and they were fully functional for the powerful engine and the big brakes. In the rear, the SHO featured a deck-spoiler. It wasn’t big, but enough to emphasize the dynamic character of the car.

Inside, the raked center stack with a new infotainment system, the thick steering wheel with paddle-shifters behind, and the bolstered seats confirmed the performance status of the car.

Under the skin, there was a 3.5-liter V6 turbocharged that sent its power to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Unlike the lesser version of the Taurus, the SHO was exclusively available with all-wheel-drive.
