If someone will try to find a pristine condition, unmodified Nissan 370 Z, will have a shock.
These are rare gems. They are like the 90s Integra Type R. This is why Nismo stepped in and applied its own rules.

The Nissan 350 Z is that kind of car which is hard to keep it stock. Even if just the wheels are changed or the suspension is tweaked, there is something that is no longer stock. The Nissan Motorsport International Limited, Nismo for short, took the already fast 370 Z and made it faster. It was not completely hardcore, but it wasn’t a daily toy anymore.

The outside was modified heavily. On the front, a new bumper with a larger air intake replaced the standard 370 Z bumper. A pair of side-scoops appeared and were underlined by red fins that connect them to the main grille. The DRLs were changed into a brighter LED lights. From the side, the new 19” Nismo super-lightweight forged aluminum-alloy wheels by Rays also have been restyled for 2015 with a twin-five spoke design and a charcoal gray machine-finish. In the rear, a bigger spoiler was placed on the tailgate, plus two big exhausts.

Inside the vehicle, the red lights are present at any detail, and a new set of dials appeared on top of the dashboard. The infotainment system features a 7” VGA touch-screen display. But the biggest change was for the Alcantara covered Recaro bucket seats.

For the technical department, the suspension was tuned for a better road holding and a VLSD (Viscous Limited Slip Differential) was installed, along with a shorter final drive for better acceleration.

The market of tuning products for sports-cars was big and different tuners tried to enhance both aesthetically or mechanically the Nissan 370Z.
But the in-house Nissan tuner, Nismo, offered its own version.

In the rear, a bigger spoiler was placed on the tailgate, plus two big and round exhausts.

Inside the vehicle, the red lights are present at any detail, and a new set of dials appeared on top of the dashboard. An AM/FM/CD/AUX 4-speaker audio system was standard. Also available was a Bose Package featuring an in-dash 6CD changer, two additional speakers (six total), two subwoofers, Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System, auto-dimming inside mirror and HomeLink Universal Transceiver. There are no other options offered.

For the technical department, the 3.7-liter V6 engine kept the same 350 hp from the non-Nismo version, but it enhanced the throttle response. Just one transmission was offered, a close-ratio 6-speed manual with Nissan’s SynchroRev Match synchronized downshift rev matching system.

In 2008, Nissan unveiled the 370Z at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
But it took another two years until the Nismo version was unveiled. But it was a different car.

The 370Z was nothing more than a re-engineered 350Z with a better design. The purists blamed it for being heavier, but the regular customers needed a safer and more comfortable car. And the 370Z ticked those boxes. The Nismo was the version that transformed the comfortable coupe into a track-ready sports car.

The car featured a fully integrated aerodynamic package, including a new front design. The canard design at each corner, with small wings, offered more downforce for the car at high speeds. On the side, there were special sills that channeled the airstream along with the bodywork that helped control airflow under the vehicle. In the back, a big wing was installed at the bottom of the rear windscreen, on top of the trunk lid.

Inside, the 370Z Nismo offered just two seats. The rear ones in the regular 370Z were only for insurance decrease purposes. The deeply scooped instrument cluster with a full-length center console separated the driver and the passenger. In the back, there was an open cargo area ready to receive a roll-cage. The car was a tuner’s dream. A CD-radio-aux system with 4 speakers was installed.

Underneath the similarly shaped bodywork, there was a different beast. The engine was pumped out with more power than the regular 370Z model, and the red-line was moved 400 RPMs up. The front spring rate has been increased by 15 percent, rear by 10, front stabilizer rate was up 15 percent, rear 50, and the front damping factor was up 40 percent with the rear up a considerable 140 percent. Overall, the car’s stiffness was increased by 15 percent.
